Tallest Dams: Engineering Marvels and Water Giants 

Tehri Dam - Located in Uttarakhand, it is the highest dam in India with a height of 260.5 meters 

Sardar Sarovar Dam - Located on the Narmada River in Gujarat, this dam has a height of 163 meters. 

Indirasagar Dam - This is a concrete gravity dam located on the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh, with a height of 92 meters. 

Hirakud Dam - Built across the Mahanadi River in Odisha, this is one of the world's longest earthen dams, with a height of 60.96 meters 

 Nagarjuna Sagar Dam - This is the world's largest masonry dam, constructed over the Krishna River in Telangana, with a height of 124 meters.

Bhakra Nangal Dam - Spanning the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, this is one of India's first and largest concrete gravity dams, standing at 226 meters. 

Tungabhadra Dam - Located in Karnataka, this multipurpose dam has a height of 49.5 meters and extends over the Tungabhadra River, a tributary of the Krishna River. 

Mettur Dam - Built across the Cauvery River in Tamil Nadu, it has a height of 120 meters. It is one of the largest dams in India and one of the oldest too.
