Athar Aamir Khan’s Preparation Strategy for UPSC Examination
IAS Athar Aamir Khan studied in a medical college after high school before deciding to study engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He made the decision to enter the civil services close to the end of his collegiate career. He regarded it as a means of greatly affecting many aspects of life, rather than just one. The civil service exam preparation process was equivalent to scaling a mountain. He would make great distances to attend classes and complete his coursework for college. He studied day and night to achieve his dreams.
IAS Athar Aamir Khan’s strategy for UPSC examination was as follows:
- One standard book and then other books for a subject: He used one standard book for each subject to understand the fundamentals of disciplines like geography and history. Then, in order to learn more, he would go on to other sources. From each one of the scores he cited, Athar Aamir took notes. As the exam day arrived, he had become more focused.
- Work on your answer writing skills: UPSC topper Athar Ahmad advises that it is important to practice past year’s exam questions. A sincere candidate ought to practice answering questions from the previous five years, if not the entire ten. According to Aamir, being punctual plays an important role in achieving the aim of cracking UPSC Examination.
- Making notes from the newspaper: He used to write notes on paper, as was previously mentioned. This was done with the intention of adding further details later. Additionally, one must be fully aware of which news, from the perspective of the exam, is noteworthy.
- Set realistic goals: He demands that all candidates set achievable goals and timelines. Make sure you stick to your schedule and don’t just pat yourself on the back for creating one.
Athar Aamir’s First Attempt at UPSC Examination
On his first attempt Athar Aamir received rank 571 in the civil service Exam in 2014 with just 6 months of preparation, but he failed to obtain the high level required to become an IAS officer. He was then enrolled in the Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management in Lucknow for training after being chosen for the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). He still planned on preparing for the IRTS, but his heart was set on the IAS, so he made the decision to give it another go. He studied significantly more and gave it another go. Then the magic started to happen. His efforts paid off this time, as he achieved his aim of an All India Rank 2 in UPSC 2015.
Athar Aamir in an interview disclosed about how his journey taught him a lot. How he gained the ability to set ambitious targets, continue through hardship, and express gratitude for the opportunities offered to him. He is aware of how lucky he is compared to many others and feels that helping the less fortunate is crucial.

IAS Athar Aamir is currently married to Mehreen Qazi in 2022. Before this he was married to another Upsc Topper Tina Dabi in the year 2018 but the marriage failed and ended up resulting in a divorce between the two in the year 2021.

In the year 2015, Tina Dabi, resident of Bhopal, topped UPSC. Tina Dabi married Athar AAamir, the second topper in the 2015 batch, in 2018. According to media reports, Tina and Athar met for the first time on 11 May 2015 in the office of the Department of Personnel and Training located in North Block. It was here that both of them fell in love with each other at first sight. Both of them never hid their relationship, they used to share photos of their outings together on social media.
Tina had given information about her marriage on social media. He wrote in the post that ‘Atar and I got married on March 20 in Jaipur in front of Collector Siddharth Mahajan. Later in 2021, both of them parted ways by taking divorce. The reason for the divorce was not disclosed as such but always sited as that the divorce done with mutual consent.

Presently she is serving at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center in the national capital Delhi. Mehreen has studied in the UK and Germany.
